RIO’s new UniSpey line is the ultimate all round, general purpose Spey line, and ideal for medium to larger sized rivers. More than two years of product testing and taper tweaking has resulted in an extraordinarily easy casting line, with a long front taper that produces ultra smooth, efficient loops. The line will easily cast larger flies and cope with tricky winds, yet lands with a great presentation that will not disturb glass-smooth pools.

This full floating shooting head has loops on both ends, and is ideal for anglers who prefer the versatility of shooting heads when confronted with a situation that needs a longer belly line.

Custom Shooting Heads

The Custom 155 and 185 shooting heads are constructed for those who want to customize to their own weight/ length and add their own loops. The lines are available in two standard lengths, 15.5 and 18.5 meters, with recommendations for modifications. The design comes from a tournament line that has been adapted for fishing. The standard, uncut Custom 155/ 185 line weighs 44/ 53 grams.

This unique taper is constructed so that the majority of weight is located in the rear section of the line. The result is a sweet turnover transfer that makes for easy underhand casting with a longer head than normal.

RIO’s hugely successful AFS head system has been extended for 2010. New heads available include a Full Aqualux Clear Intermediate head, A “Tracker” Floating head in high visibility Steelhead Orange, and a Twin Density Fast Sinking head in Sink 3/4. Sink 2/3 heads are now available in a wider range of sizes. Last but not least is the much requested AFS Tracker Versitip: The High Vis floating body comes with four Rio 15’ Interchangeable tips (as used in our Versitip Spey Lines) making it the most versatile option available for “Sink Tip” work by ensuring you have the ability to reach and maintain depth in faster water, and deliver bigger flies than a Floating head/Leader combination will allow. The tips included in a Rio Mesh Wallet are: clear intermediate (1.5 ips, 4 cm/s), DC Type 3 (3 ips, 8 cm/s), DC Type 6 (6 ips, 15 cm/s) and DC Type 8 (8 ips, 20 cm/s) sinking.
